Why we exist
Access to mental healthcare is limited by too few clinicians. The clinicians who DO exist are almost universally under-resourced from a technology standpoint — and that quietly makes the gap worse.

Mental-health enquiries at Pakistani clinics roughly doubled in the years following the pandemic. Existing intake workflows — WhatsApp, paper diaries — buckled.

The largest cohort of new therapy-seekers grew up online. A directory they can search on their phone at 2am beats a phone number they'd have to call at 11am.

Pakistani professionals abroad want culturally-fluent, Urdu-speaking therapists. Video sessions collapse the geography — but only if the platform is trustworthy.

Our story
TheraKonnect started as a real answer to a real bottleneck. Over 12 months, we worked side-by-side with Maju Wellness, a Karachi-based mental-health clinic, watching how bookings actually happened (WhatsApp), how notes actually lived (Word documents on individual laptops), and how payments actually reconciled (cash in a drawer + a spreadsheet on a Friday night).
Every feature on TheraKonnect started as a moment of friction we watched a real clinician hit. The SOAP-note editor exists because we saw notes lost when a therapist changed jobs. The two-stage approval flow exists because we saw a fake credential slip through in a rush. The refund policy exists because we saw a clinic walk away from a competitor and lose everything they paid for the year.
We're now expanding beyond the pilot clinic — serving individual therapists, additional clinical partners, and patients across Pakistan. The design principle stays: build with clinics, not for them.

How we work
Co-design, not survey-ware
Every module started as a bottleneck we watched a real clinician hit. No feature ships until someone on the front line has stress-tested it.
Security by construction
Per-therapist encryption keys aren't a marketing bullet — they're the reason our engineers physically can't read your clinical notes.
Incremental rollout
New clinics onboard with the same encryption + audit model as the pilot. We add capacity, not shortcuts.
Clinicians own the record
If a therapist leaves TheraKonnect, their patients' clinical history exports to a portable format. No lock-in via data hostage.

Encryption in transit
TLS 1.2+ across every endpoint. HSTS + preload on the production domain.
Encryption at rest
Field-level AES-256-GCM on every SOAP note, treatment plan, and assessment. Per-therapist keys — no single master key.
CNIC handling
Never stored in plaintext. HMAC-hashed for uniqueness checks; last-4 digits only for display.
Role-scoped access
JWT + per-route requireRoles middleware. Receptionists never see clinical content; hospital admins never see clinical content.
Full audit trail
Every login, note edit, discount, therapist pause, and admin email logged with actor + timestamp.
Data residency
Primary storage in the region of the clinic's choice — Frankfurt, Singapore, or Mumbai.
ISO/IEC 27001 alignment
Controls mapped, statement of applicability available under NDA. Third-party audit on the 2027 roadmap.
AI use
Patient data is never used to train any AI model. This isn't a policy — the encryption model makes it impossible.

Session notes, treatment plans, and assessments never train a third-party AI model. That's not a policy — the encryption model makes it impossible.
Confidentiality is architectural
Each therapist owns their own encryption key. Even TheraKonnect engineers cannot decrypt your clinical content. Access control is enforced at the DB, not at the UI.

No ticket-triage bot, no first-level outsourced support. Support emails land in the same inbox the engineers and founders monitor daily. Average first response: under 24 hours, typically much faster.
Clinicians in the loop
Practising therapists from Maju Wellness review every clinical workflow before it ships. The team doesn't decide what "good clinical UX" looks like — the clinicians do.
Security is not a separate department
The engineers writing the features are the same engineers writing the encryption. There is no "we'll add security later" layer. The threat model is committed to the repo alongside the product spec.

The clinic (or the individual therapist, if independent) owns every patient record they create. TheraKonnect is a processor, not a controller. On exit, we export the full clinical dataset in a portable format within 30 days.
Our written continuity commitment: on wind-down, we notify every clinic 90 days in advance, ship a portable export of all encrypted records + decryption keys to the clinic's authorised representative, and provide read-only access for a further 90 days.
Not currently. We operate a fully-managed multi-tenant deployment because it's the only way we can keep the security posture consistent. For hospital groups with a legitimate self-hosting requirement, contact us — a dedicated tenancy option is on the 2027 roadmap.
Annual per-seat licences from clinics. That's it. We don't take a cut of therapy fees, we don't sell aggregated data, we don't run ads. Individual therapists (not affiliated with a clinic) list free — the business model is enterprise, not consumer.
No. Clinical content (session notes, treatment plans, assessments) is field-level AES-256-GCM encrypted with per-therapist keys. Nobody outside the clinic — including TheraKonnect engineers and any third-party AI vendor — can decrypt it. It cannot be sent to a training pipeline because it cannot be read.
Every therapist submits a professional licence + CNIC. Our team cross-checks with the issuing body. Clinic-affiliated therapists get a second layer: their hospital admin must approve them before the super-admin unlocks the directory listing.
